1 WATER WELL - PROJECT COMPLETE. DECEMBER 2014.
Project Description
Chad is amongst the poorest countries in the world. 75% of the population live below the poverty line. Health and social problems are degenerating with shortage of food and chronic malnutrition levels. 95% of the population are illiterate. The climate varies especially droughts that have negative effects on the harvest.
The well was constructed in the Central Sahel region of Chad, the poorest and most dry area of Chad with insufficient rainfall to cultivate crops without irrigation. The livelihood of the people in this region is extremely dangerous, they are very vulnerable and very socially disadvantaged. Many households are headed by women as a result of male mortality and immigration. Women remain marginalized and do all the farming, herding animals, house chores and still go long distances to fetch water and fire wood. The wells in the Sahel region will be the best sadakah one could ever give, the reward will be enormous. The population of the area is predominately Muslims with a few Christians. |

Seeking Reward Foundation built a high density capacity well (not a hand pump well that will dry up after 6 – 9 months). The well was dug about 15 to 25 feet deep to find water and connected with tanks and pipes. Chad is a very dry land and parts of desert therefore the well was dug using machines as people cannot dig to reach the depth where water can be found.
