Will the wells be secure after they have been built?
Good question as this is a concern in Africa. Sometimes there are issues with tribes taking over Water Wells that have been built by charities. The contacts SRF have in Africa monitor all projects that they get involved with and visit them regularly. One of the volunteers is a Trustee for an Orphanage in Nigeria and visits Nigeria on a regular basis and also receives updates from the locals. Furthermore they train the people from the community to take control of their own projects and manage them.
Why is the cost so expensive compared to other countries?
Building wells in Nigeria and across Africa costs more than wells being built in countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. There are many reasons for this but to list a few:

The cost includes the following:
- 2 x High capacity water wells. Each well comes with a pump and a high pressure tap. As there is 2 outlets (tap and pump) this increases the amount of water that can be taken at one time.
- Each well has 4 large tanks pumping water to them automatically.
- Large pipes to ensure there is a high pressure of water flow.
- Material costs for the above.
- Labour costs to manage and build the water wells efficiently.

Building wells in Nigeria and across Africa costs more than wells being built in countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. There are many reasons for this but to list a few:
- Water wells in countries like Pakistan and India have been built for a long time, therefore they have many technologies and materials available to easily build the wells. Many African countries on the other hand have to import everything from other countries.
- The ground conditions in Nigeria and Africa are really dry compared to other countries therefore the costs involved getting to the water are more.
- The common wells that people donate towards are water pumps or shallow water wells, however, the Nigeria water wells will be high capacity borehole wells.
- The well known charities are more active in countries such as Bangladesh and Pakistan offering more support to build wells, however, countries such as Nigeria don't have that kind of support.
